Motherhood is the most powerful force I have encountered. It has challenged me. It has changed me. It has opened up parts of me I didn’t know were there.
My two beautiful girls are my greatest teachers. Each day they show me more closely what life is all about. Being their “Mumma” is such an incredible gift. Here is my ode to the beautiful journey we call Motherhood…
_______
It’s beautiful and it’s complicated. It’s uplifting, and mundane. It is clarity, alongside confusion. It’s joy bundled up with pain.
It is gentle, but it shakes me. It’s “holding tight”… but a rush to let go. It’s calm, with intermittent chaos. It leaves me questioning everything I know.
It’s humbling, yet revealing. Instinctive, but not straight-forward. Heartwarming, but demanding. It makes me feel everything to my core.
It is precious, yet robust. Universal, but unique. A force that can’t be reckoned with. An overwhelming feeling of being complete.

There is a certain magic that is bound to happen when a beautiful School teacher with an incredible zest for life falls in love with a handsome, laid-back landscape architect. Casey and Nathan are a match made in heaven, and when they chose Stradbroke Island for their Wedding day and invited their closest friends and family, and their trusty canine companion Duskie along for the ride, it was sure to be an amazing weekend. After ferrying across truckloads of pallet furniture that they had together made by hand, with the help of their closest friends, this pair styled their entire reception venue the night before their big day. When it was time to say “I do”, they exchanged vows on a beautiful hillside just above Deadman’s Beach, on what was a perfectly overcast day. There were lots of smiles, cold beers, great food and amazing company. Duskie did a perfect job of delivering the rings. After hugs and kisses, and some time to soak it all in, we ducked away for a little while to enjoy the serenity of the ocean. The sea breeze grew stronger and the newlyweds took shelter in eachother’s arms, listening to nothing but the sound of the waves crashing against Straddie’s North Gorge, and eachother. Casey and Nathan returned to Point Lookout to watch the sun set, and the moon rise, barefoot, throwing a stick to their best mate Duskie. They then made their way back to the lights and welcoming arms of their guests at the Point Lookout Surf Club, and danced the night away to the incredible reggae duo ‘Alvin’. A big shout-out to Point Lookout function manager, celebrant, bus driver, bar-tender and all-round legend Sheryl. And Stradbroke Island events for the finishing touches.
With the incredible mateship, positivity and love for life that these guys have, I believe anything is possible for them.

Many of my greatest life lessons are those I have learnt from nature. My time spent nestled in the beautiful rainforest of Kuranda taught me a great deal. I learnt to trust in the universe and the cycle of life. To adopt the pace of nature. To delight in the beauty of the little things. And celebrate small changes. To hold onto what matters most. To be grateful for what we hold inside us, as well what surrounds us.
The Barron River was of particular significance. It’s serenity. It’s grace. It’s power. When I was away from it, I yearned it. I yearned the feeling of river pebbles in my toes, gentle breeze and golden light shows. I daydreamed of washing away the pressures of life in it’s waters, and of sinking my skin into the comforting warmth of the sand. Of being connected, body and soul, with the earth once again. There is something magical that happens down by the River. This beautiful family honour that with perfection. No greater love have I witnessed. No greater beauty and celebration of Mother Earth. Here is the story of a magical afternoon picnic by the River. Spent with some incredibly beautiful humans. Some precious moments forever etched in my memory. This beautiful place and it’s people hold a very special place in my heart.
